RC Helicopter Maneuver progression - NOVICE
Try to perform the maneuvers on a simulator first until you are comfortable to the point that you are acting and reacting from instinct and not "THINKING" about what you are doing with your fingers, but you are moving the helicopter in the direction YOU want to move it. Realize that there is always an adjustment to how the simulator feels vs. how your real live helicopter feels.
Helicopter Set up for a collective Pitch Helicopter (any size):
Recommended pitch curve (value of pitch measured at 5 points of the stick ): -2,-2,0,4.5,9
Recommended Throttle curve (assuming properly sized pinion) : 0,60,80,90,100
[The reason I recommend 60% throttle at point 2 is that you want some headspeed and tail authority as you enter negative pitch or else if you have to drop your stick down, you don't want to loose tail control and have the helicopter rotate on you. At no point during these manuvers should you have the stick that low except to land, however if you have to bail out of a manuever and you get to high and panic and drop your stick quickly, the last thing you want is the tail to rotate on you.]
All of these can also be performed with a fixed pitch helicopter as well as Collective Pitch Helicopter.
