BLUERAY 450
vs. BLADE 400
Here
is my
opinion on why the Blueray 450 is a better deal than the BLade 400 and
some Pros and Cons to both for a first CP 450 sized Helicopter.
Cost
I went into a local hobby shop and a Blade 400 RTF with DX6i was $495
(you may find it less expensive online)
The
Blueray 450 PE RTF is $329 (you can find a discount coupon on this
site). With that additional $$ savings, you can get a few more
batteries, a decent 50W charger and some tools. Granted, the
Blade will come with a good helicopter radio (DX6i) but you can always
get the Blueray RX ready version for $229 and then buy a DX6i for
around $200 including the Rx. You will still come out ahead with the
Blueray and have some $$ for batteries and a good charger.
Compatibility
The
Blueray450 will take Trex 450 SEV2 compatible parts. Although the
frames are different, nearly every other part you can buy the less
expensive EXI parts or get Align parts from online or the Local hobby
shop if they carry it. Most of the time, the EXI parts are
less
expensive. The Blade 400 will only take Blade 400
parts and
some Local Shops charge more than online prices for them.
Upgradeability
The
Blueray450 being Align 450 SEV2 compatable has a wealth of available
after market upgrades that will fit it. You can get better
mechanics (the Blueray mechanics are already mostly metal and better
than the Stock Blade 400 anyway!)
Flight charactoristics.
The
Blueray 450 can do 3D flips and inverted flight right out of the box
with good performance. The Blade 400 can do inveted but the performance
is lacking and there is little roll rate to get you out of trouble.
