500 Battery Tray MOD:
The
purpose of this modification is to lower the battery tray to allow
larger batteries to fit under the canopy and still allow the unmodified
canopy to fit onto the spinner and slot properly.
NOTE:
CF dust is EXTREMELY dangerous. Use a respirator and if possible cut
outside. Direct all CF dust into a trash can if possible. CF dust is
carcinogenic!
1. Mark off
the line that you will cut. Mask off the surrounding area with tape and
block the internal area with a paper towl or other item to keep carbon
dust from getting into the motor and electronics.

2.
Cut out the area with a dremmel tool cut off wheel for both sides. Make
sure what you cut out remains in once piece per side. You will use the
cut off portion as a drill template for the new battery tray holes.
Note: Although the photos show the masking removed for photo clarity,
do not remove masking at this time.

3.
Take the cut out pieces and align the top and front edges. Apply tape
to hold the piece to the fram and use as a drill template.
Use a
drill bit the same size as the hole. After drilling, come back and
slightly oversize the hole with a slightly larger drill bit (optional,
will allow easier installation of the battery tray.

4. Smoothen out the top sharp edges with sandpaper or Xacto blade.
5.
Replace the battery tray and make sure you use blue loctite on the
screws. Straps go in the remaining slot and the front battery
tray as shown in photo. Place battery and adjust for proper CG with the
Canopy on.

6. DONE!
